Paweł Jaworski was born in 2004 and raised in Mława, Poland — a city whose modest size belies the competitive fire it helped forge. His martial arts education began at age six under judo coach Cezary Kądrzycki, and he spent five formative years on the judo mat before transitioning to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at around age eleven. That foundation in judo — built on timing, grip fighting, and explosive entries — would leave a permanent imprint on everything that followed.

His BJJ journey began at Husaria Mława under coaches Michał Wodowski, Bogdan Wróblewski, and Robert Wodzyński. Even as a blue belt, Jaworski pushed beyond his local training environment, making regular visits to Arrachion Olsztyn and Kaiser Sport to sharpen his game against a broader pool of training partners. When the COVID-19 pandemic suspended competition worldwide, he used the enforced downtime to train intensively with available partners — an accelerant that compressed his development considerably. When events resumed, the results reflected the work: strong performances at national and international levels signaled that something exceptional was emerging from central Poland.

Jaworski's path to elite BJJ crystallized through his connection with Academia Gorila. After a period of cross-training at Gorila Academy, he officially affiliated with the team and came under the direct guidance of coaches Marcin Polczyk and Jędrzej Loska — known in the community as Jedrek. The relationship proved transformative: Polczyk and Loska promoted him to brown belt in December 2023, and following a brown belt campaign that produced IBJJF World No-Gi gold, elevated him to black belt on December 18, 2024.

The belt timeline was rapid by any standard, but the record justified it. Jaworski claimed the IBJJF World No-Gi Championship at purple belt in 2023, then repeated the feat at brown belt in 2024 — back-to-back world titles across consecutive belt levels that made his black belt promotion feel earned rather than accelerated. His lineage traces through one of BJJ's most storied trees: Carlos Gracie > Helio Gracie > Carlson Gracie > Carlos Rollyson > Adilson "Bitta" Lima > Jędrzej Loska > Marcin Polczyk > Paweł Jaworski. He represents Academia Gorila on the international circuit.

Jaworski's technical identity is built around leg entanglement — specifically the False Reap and K-Guard systems, which he deploys to generate immediate threats of sweeps and lower-body submissions from the moment a match hits the ground. He competes primarily at Meio Pesado (88.3 kg / 195 lbs) and frequently enters the 85 kg No-Gi and Absolute divisions, where the ruleset amplifies the strategic value of his approach.

The fingerprints of his judo background are visible in how he operates on the feet. Rather than pulling guard passively, Jaworski applies constant forward pressure in the standup exchange — using that aggression to position himself advantageously for guard entries while simultaneously generating the conditions that draw passivity infractions from opponents who disengage. The combination of guard-pulling with active forward intent functions as both a submission-hunting posture and a penalty-accumulation strategy.

In 2024, Jaworski tested this game plan on the Ocean Pro and Ocean BJJ circuits, where victories over veterans Espen Mathiesen and Tommy Langaker demonstrated its effectiveness against experienced international competition. His stated philosophy — imposing his own game rather than reacting to what opponents offer — runs as a consistent thread through his preparation and in-match decision-making.

At the 2026 ADCC World Championship, Paweł Jaworski wrote his name into the history of Polish combat sports by winning the 88 kg division and becoming the first-ever Polish ADCC World Champion — a watershed moment for both Jaworski personally and for the broader Polish grappling community on the global stage.

The 88 kg Final

The championship match encapsulated everything that defines his competition approach. The bout ended 0-0 on points, with Jaworski winning by one penalty — a scoreline that reflected the grinding, pressure-based game plan he had constructed the entire match around. By maintaining relentless guard-pull pressure and refusing to allow the match to settle into neutral exchanges, he created the conditions for his opponent to be penalized for passivity, and that single penalty proved decisive.

Immediately after securing the title, Jaworski made clear that celebration was not on his schedule. With another event on the calendar approximately one week later, he stated he would return to training without delay — a posture entirely consistent with the work ethic that had carried him to the top of the podium.

Stance on the Absolute Division and PED Testing

In a post-victory interview with FloGrappling, Jaworski addressed the ADCC Absolute division directly, stating he would decline to enter it unless the organization implements PED testing. He explained his position in concrete terms: much larger super-heavyweight opponents may be using performance-enhancing drugs, and the current ruleset's insufficient penalization of stalling allows bigger athletes to neutralize smaller, more active competitors in overtime through sheer passivity. Without testing, the Absolute division was not a space he was willing to enter.

His remarks landed in a charged atmosphere. Following the 2026 event, Vinny Magalhães — an ADCC Hall of Famer — independently raised similar concerns on social media, publicly asserting that PED use had influenced results at the tournament. The two positions were arrived at separately, but they pointed in the same direction: a growing conversation within elite grappling about the integrity of competition at the sport's highest level.

Before his ADCC coronation, Jaworski had already stepped onto one of the sport's most prominent stages. In a podcast interview published March 9, 2026, he revealed that he had signed a ONE FC contract for a single match — a title fight against Tye Ruotolo at ONE FN 41, scheduled for March 13, 2026.

The Road to the Signing

The circumstances surrounding the contract were notable in their own right. The ONE FC proposal arrived before and during the IBJJF Championship final, and the contract language carried an implicit condition: winning that match would confirm he deserved the offer. He won, accepted the contract, and reflected in the interview that while he might have preferred receiving the offer after the final rather than during the pressure of competing for gold, he was ultimately pleased with how events unfolded.

Jaworski identified ONE as one of the best environments in the world for a grappler with a judo background, citing the organization's competitive conditions and overall atmosphere. His assessment of Tye Ruotolo as an opponent was precise: Tye's style, he said, was a form of controlled chaos — unpredictable, but effective precisely within the disorder Ruotolo generates. Avoiding that chaos and imposing his own game, rather than being drawn into Ruotolo's preferred exchanges, formed the cornerstone of his preparation.

On the question of public perception, Jaworski was candid: he considered himself a significant underdog and, relative to Ruotolo's international profile, essentially unknown on the world stage. He noted he had never met Ruotolo in person and had only encountered him through social media — where, he added, Ruotolo gives a positive impression and "seems to be a good guy."

Jaworski lost to Tye Ruotolo at ONE FN 41. The defeat placed him in the company of many elite grapplers who have fallen short against Ruotolo, and it did not interrupt the trajectory that would carry him, months later, to the top of the ADCC podium in the 88 kg division.
