Lima's competitive career did not diminish with age — it evolved into one of the most sustained and decorated records in Masters and Seniors jiu-jitsu. Competing across the Meio Pesado (88kg/194lbs) and Super Pesado (100kg/221lbs) weight divisions, he accumulated titles over more than two decades that few competitors in any combat sport can match.
His first Brazilian National Championship came in 1993 in the Master division. He followed with further national titles in 1999 and 2001 in the Senior 1 category, capturing victories in both the weight and absolute divisions. At the International Masters & Seniors Championship, Lima built a record of dominance stretching from 2001 through 2015, earning gold across the Senior 1, Senior 2, Senior 3, and Master 5 categories. His 2012 performances stood out in particular, with Lima claiming both the weight and absolute titles in the Senior 3 division.
In 2015, Lima added the 2015 IBJJF European Open Championship to his record, winning gold in both the weight and absolute categories of the Master 5 division. That same competitive period saw him reach the podium at the Abu Dhabi World Pro in 2014, finishing third in the Senior 1 division — a result that confirmed his continued relevance at elite international competition well into his later years. Across this extensive arc, Lima's longevity was not merely a matter of participation; it was a matter of genuine performance at the highest level of Masters and Seniors jiu-jitsu.
