About this video

Executing a triangle choke from the crucifix position:

  1. Start with your opponent in the crucifix, controlling their arm with your legs and holding their hand back by the palm and pinkies.
  2. Keep your elbow out to the side to keep their arm floating, which will help in setting up a kimura later.
  3. As you attempt a rear naked choke (RNC) and your opponent defends by bridging backwards, use this moment to hip escape and create space.
  4. Push your opponent's head and slide your calf underneath their neck to initiate the triangle choke setup.
  5. Instead of placing the top leg over, trap the neck with your calf and cross the bottom leg over the top leg.
  6. Pull the opponent's head towards your hamstring to tighten the choke.
  7. Cross your feet and apply a small squeeze for the submission, being mindful of your partner's safety.
  8. If the triangle choke doesn't finish the fight, you can transition back to attacking with a kimura or wrist lock while maintaining the triangle.
  9. Use the triangle as a control position to set up additional submissions.

This technique demonstrates the versatility of the triangle choke and its effectiveness from the crucifix position, offering a strong submission option and the ability to transition to other attacks.
