About this video

Mastering rolling Kimura variations involves understanding the transitions to armlocks, crucifixes, and maintaining control over the opponent's movements. Utilize Henzo's Elbow Law by planking on the opponent's shoulder to prevent their escape. When facing a strong or explosive opponent, anticipate their movements to maintain the Kimura grip.

  1. When the opponent turns over, immediately hop and place your heel over their shoulder to drag them back down, preventing them from reversing the Kimura.
  2. Keep the opponent stuck to stop their movement and assess your next attack, which could lead to a crucifix or an armlock.
  3. If the opponent reaches up while trying to turn over, drag them back into the crucifix position.
  4. Always consider returning to the armlock as a surprise attack, tricking the opponent who may expect a Kimura.
  5. When the opponent tries to escape, transition to other submissions like the rear naked choke or wrist lock.
  6. Be prepared for the opponent to attempt a reversal. If they get on their toes, they might roll over and apply the Yin and Yang drill to reverse the situation.
  7. Practice both variations of the rolling Kimura without supplementary moves to solidify your understanding.
  8. For the first variation, roll the opponent back down as they explode upwards, then lock in your finish.
  9. In the second variation, when the opponent tries to circle over your head, adjust your position to maintain control and set up for the next sequence, the Yin and Yang drill, which teaches how to steal the Kimura.

Understanding these concepts and being able to adapt to your opponent's reactions are crucial for successfully applying the rolling Kimura and its related attacks.
