About this video
Executing the Rolling Kimura from Top Half Guard:
- When your opponent sits up in half guard to attempt a Kimura, reach your arm through their body cavity to block their bottom hand.
- Anticipate their spin by stepping your knee up, then step back and fall into the Kimura position.
- From this position, you can transition to various submissions such as the crucifix, Americana, or other Kimura variations.
- To prevent your opponent from escaping, ensure your elbow is underneath theirs and turn it outwards, following Henzo's Elbow Rule.
- Keep your arm on their shoulder and to the outside to maintain control and prevent them from getting up.
- Consider your next attack, whether it's maintaining top position, passing the hand behind their back for a Kimura, or setting up an Americana.
- When finishing the Kimura, step over their head, slide your foot under their head, and pull their hand out and around their back for a strong finish.
This technique leads to a "shoulder hub" position, offering multiple submission opportunities and allowing for transitions to other attacks.
