About this video

Performing the Step Over Arm Lock from a trapped arm position:

  1. Trap your opponent's arm across their body and secure a grip. Your leg should be outside or even inside both of their legs.
  2. Thrust upwards and use the hand that's on their neck to fish for their wrist or elbow. You can stand up to get a better grip on the elbow.
  3. Push with your chest to transition into the scarf hold position. Instead of transitioning to side control, use the hand that's controlling their arm or the hand that's already on their elbow to get a better grip.
  4. Open your elbow to trap their wrist in your armpit, under your arm. Come down with a twisting motion to create an extension in their elbow joint.
  5. Stay tight with your right hand and stay low to prevent them from moving or pushing you. It will be hard for them to push you without their trapped hand being free.
  6. Twist their elbow and step over their body with your left leg. As you drop back, thrust with your hips. Keep your foot on the ground and thrust with your hips for maximum pressure.
  7. The elbow is isolated, step over and bring them with your leg and thrust your hips to get the finish.

Remember, the key to this technique is to maintain a tight grip on their elbow, isolate the joint, and apply pressure with your hips while keeping your foot on the ground.
