About this video
This technique is a transition using bicep control with your hands, rather than grips on the gi. It's a versatile move that works both with and without the gi.
- Start by breaking down your opponent and positioning yourself at an off angle. If the opponent starts scrambling or walking towards you, release your hand and sit up to fish for their bicep.
- The hand that was on the neck should cruise in until it gets a hold of the bicep. Once you have control of the bicep, it becomes difficult for the opponent to move their arm.
- From this position, you can creep your way onto their bicep. Instead of pulling them towards your head, bring their elbow towards your hip.
- Open up to get to the back control. This move is similar to the one where you push the arm across the back. Once you're at the back, the neck is exposed for a choke attack.
- If you don't feel comfortable, perhaps because the opponent's legs are too close, you can sit up close. One hand goes in, and the other goes across, with your hand over your head on their bicep.
- Again, don't pull them towards you, but bring the elbow towards your hip, towards their other elbow. This gives you good control and puts the opponent in a weak position.
- From this position, it's very hard for the opponent to move. Open up just enough to get to the back.
