About this video
Transitioning from an arm bar attempt to an armlock triangle:
- Start in the same position as when attacking the arm bar. If the opponent scoops under your leg while you're attempting the arm bar, free the top leg and use it to bite the neck.
- Be assertive with the neck bite, then reach for your shin with the base hand. Once you have your shin, you can lie down and lock the triangle.
- Maintain the cross grip to finish the move. The head that's on the shin should also apply pressure to the opponent's head. Get a tight triangle by squeezing your knees and bringing them towards you.
- If the opponent tries to remove the hook while you're trying to break him down, parry your leg. You could also circle and get another bite on the neck.
- Keep the grip, and place your free hand on your shin close to the back of the opponent's head. Apply constant pressure and don't give the opponent the freedom to wiggle around.
- Close the triangle with your other leg. To finish, squeeze both of your knees and bring them towards you while maintaining the grip.
- If desired, you can also switch to an arm bar from this position.
