About this video
The Marte Triangle is a technique that can be used when the opponent's posture is broken down and they are in an awkward angle or too close. The steps to execute this technique are as follows:
- Use the hand that is gripping behind the neck to reach through and fish for the opponent's bicep.
- Once the bicep is secured with both hands, start pulling it towards the hips.
- Keep one hand controlling the bicep, making it difficult for the opponent to move.
- Open up and come over to attack with a triangle. This triangle should be tight and close to the neck.
- Grab the shin and close the triangle. There is no need to cross over as the opponent's head is likely in an offset position.
- Pull the opponent's head into the thigh to finish the move. There is no need to readjust or take the arm out.
- If the opponent is looking down, twist their head and pull it into the thigh.
- For more torque, cup the back of the opponent's head and push and pull it in while squeezing the knees together. This results in a very tight triangle.
