About this video
This technique is a hammer lock backtake from the closed guard position:
- Start by breaking down your opponent, swimming around, and framing on their bicep, aiming for the wizard.
- Attack their back using the same movement as for a Kimura attack, but aim to get back control, similar to a police lock situation.
- Once you have control, frame and bend your opponent's arm. If they are strong and resist, use a V grip on their wrist.
- Push their hand towards your opposite hook, while kicking down with your leg to break their grip.
- Push their hand across their back onto your other hook. The hand that was on their wrist now grabs the fabric under their hand, trapping their arm.
- Your chest should be behind their arm on their tricep, with your other hand under their hand, grabbing fabric. You can also grab their pant for more control.
- Keep the grip on their neck, pull with your right hand and hip escape to slide them into back control.
- From here, you can attack the second hook. If they defend the second hook, they leave their neck undefended, allowing you to finish with a rear naked choke or any lapel choke.
- If your opponent manages to free their arm, it will still be trapped under your leg, leaving them vulnerable to a choke.
