EBI
Submission-only regulation with the famous EBI overtime: alternating rounds from the back or spider web until someone taps or escapes faster.
How the ruleset works
The Eddie Bravo Invitational ruleset is submission-only in regulation: no points, no advantages, ten minutes to finish. If nobody taps, it goes to the EBI overtime format the ruleset is famous for. Competitors alternate starting in a dominant position (back control or the armbar "spider web"); win by finishing, or by escaping faster than your opponent when the roles flip.
Because regulation can't be won on the scoreboard, the format rewards submission hunting and produces a disproportionate number of finishes. The overtime system has been adopted by many other events, including combat jiu-jitsu shows.
