Long before Valente ever stepped into a formal gym, the culture of grappling and combat sports surrounded him. Top regional practitioners gathered at family barbecues and social occasions, weaving martial arts into the fabric of everyday life.

Valente's introduction to jiu-jitsu began at home under his uncle's guidance — an informal but technically grounded education that laid the foundation for an elite competitive career. He later joined the kids' program at Gracie Barra Belo Horizonte, training under coach Mauro Rodrigues. His aptitude for the sport was evident almost immediately, as he swept through Belo Horizonte's juvenile BJJ circuit with a technical maturity well beyond his years.
