Ronaldo Souza Júnior was born on August 28, 1996, in Teresópolis, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Initially drawn to football as a recreational activity, Ronaldo's athletic path shifted significantly in 2007 when a friend invited him to a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class, motivated by a promotional offer at a local gym. After his first session under instructor Luiz Felipe 'Profeta', Ronaldo immediately discovered a passion for the art and committed himself fully to training.

Recognizing Ronaldo's natural aptitude and potential, his first instructor Luiz Felipe 'Profeta' encouraged Ronaldo's parents to support his jiu-jitsu journey. Under Profeta's guidance, Ronaldo earned his blue belt, demonstrating early signs of competitive promise.

Development at Academia Pitbull

Seeking further growth, Ronaldo transitioned to Academia Pitbull, a respected academy in Teresópolis led by Adilson 'Bitta' Lima. At Pitbull, Ronaldo refined his technical skills and competitive mindset, earning his purple belt and establishing himself as one of the region's standout competitors.

In 2017, Ronaldo received a pivotal invitation from André Galvão to join the elite Atos Jiu-Jitsu headquarters in California, complete with a full scholarship. Training alongside world-class athletes under Galvão's mentorship, Ronaldo rapidly elevated his competitive performance. Following two impressive campaigns at the IBJJF World Championships at colored belts, Ronaldo earned his black belt from Galvão in June 2019.

Nicknamed 'The Human Highlight Reel', Ronaldo Junior is celebrated for his aggressive, high-energy approach to competition. His matches are characterized by explosive guard passing sequences, dynamic takedowns, and relentless submission attempts. Ronaldo's ability to consistently push the pace and execute high-risk techniques has made him a fan favorite in both gi and no-gi formats.

Expanding his competitive horizons, Ronaldo successfully transitioned into professional no-gi superfights, headlining prestigious events such as 2025 WNO (Who's Number One). At this event, Ronaldo secured a notable victory over ADCC trials winner Jacob 'Jay' Rodriguez in a tactical battle, demonstrating his adaptability and strategic acumen beyond traditional IBJJF competitions. His performances in high-profile superfights have further solidified his reputation as a versatile and dynamic competitor.

In addition to his competitive career, Ronaldo Junior serves as the head professor at Atos Jiu-Jitsu's Temecula academy in California. Known for delivering intensive, seminar-quality instruction, Ronaldo leverages his extensive competitive experience to mentor and develop students. Trusted by André Galvão and the Atos leadership, Ronaldo effectively balances his responsibilities as an instructor and mentor while continuing to compete at the highest levels of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
