Fellipe Trovo

Fellipe Trovo was born on February 9, 1995, in Ribeirão Preto, Brazil. He began his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey in his mid-teens at a small academy in São Paulo. Demonstrating exceptional dedication and consistency from the outset, Trovo rapidly advanced through the ranks, building a strong technical foundation that would later fuel his competitive achievements.

Trovo received his black belt in December 2017 from André Ushirobira, following three successful years competing at brown belt. Seeking elite-level training and greater competitive exposure, he joined Rômulo Barral's branch of Gracie Barra in 2018. In 2020, Trovo relocated to San Diego, California, to further elevate his skills under the renowned guidance of André Galvão at Atos headquarters.

IBJJF No-Gi World Champion and ADCC Success

Fellipe Trovo established himself as a prominent competitor in no-gi grappling by capturing the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship title in 2022 in the adult super-heavyweight division. His continued evolution was evident when he reached the finals of the 2024 ADCC North American Trials in the 99 kg division, showcasing significant improvements in wrestling exchanges and submission setups. Throughout 2023, Trovo dominated multiple ADCC Open events, notably winning the 2023 ADCC Orange County Open at 100 kg, where he secured several submission victories against international-level opponents using precise head-arm chokes and arm locks.

Globally recognized for his aggressive, submission-oriented approach, Trovo consistently seeks decisive finishes in competition. In 2020, he ranked among the world's top submission finishers, underscoring his effectiveness in ending matches. His preferred techniques include the Crucifix position and dynamic open guard sweeps, which he employs strategically to control and overwhelm opponents. Additionally, Trovo frequently utilizes head-arm chokes and arm locks, further highlighting his versatile and attacking style.

The year 2019 marked a pivotal turning point in Trovo's competitive career. At the 2019 IBJJF American Nationals, he secured double gold, winning both gi and no-gi divisions as a black belt. This standout performance propelled him toward consistent podium placements at major IBJJF events and laid the groundwork for his subsequent achievements at the highest levels of competition.
