About this video

Transition from deep half guard to inverted triangle choke:

  1. Start in deep half guard. If the opponent hugs your leg tightly, making it difficult to apply a choke, sit up to adjust.
  2. Pull the opponent's arm slightly to create space, then thread your left hand through to grip their arm.
  3. Begin to sit back, using the grip to make the opponent uncomfortable, and work on freeing your leg.
  4. As you sit back, extract your leg, push the opponent's hip, and swing your right leg up to lock in the triangle choke.
  5. If the choke isn't tight, grab both hands on the opponent's tricep, pull it up to tighten the submission.
  6. If the opponent is a strong deep half guard player and keeps your legs trapped, wait for them to start turning for a sweep.
  7. As they turn, rotate with them, kick their leg away to create space, and escape your leg.
  8. Lock in the triangle choke and squeeze to finish the submission.
