About this video
Working from the 50/50 position, the following steps can be taken:
- Bring your elbow inside the shin. This makes it harder for your opponent to keep their feet connected.
- Push and pull to create an opening. Pass the foot across to the top side, right into the armpit.
- To free your leg, unlock your legs, keep your knee line down to the floor and start sliding your knee in. This position keeps you safe from foot attacks.
- Concentrate on pummeling your elbow in front of the shin. This makes it hard for your opponent to keep their feet connected.
- Pass the foot across to the top side. If you feel danger, tuck your knee out without opening your knees.
- Put all your weight on your side and try to pull your leg in. Push your knee in the opposite direction without opening your knees. This allows you to pull your leg completely out.
- Once your leg is free, push your left knee in and retract your right knee. This puts you in a good position to start reattacking or to come up and start working on something else.
- Pinch your knees together and put all your weight on the side. This helps to free your leg by pushing your shin into the back of the thigh.
- Once your leg is free, you can choose whether to attack one of your opponent's legs from an inside position, come up and pass, or just get back to guard position.
