About this video

Escaping the 50/50 position while standing involves a full-body turn and a strong stance:

  1. Begin by assessing the position of your leg within the 50/50 entanglement.
  2. Initiate the escape by turning your entire body away from the direction your knee is pointing, rather than just twisting the knee.
  3. Focus on rising into a solid and strong stance to establish a base.
  4. Once in a strong stance, push your opponent's legs out in front of you to create space and disentangle.
  5. With the legs pushed away and space created, you can now start to free your leg and work towards completing the escape.

This sequence provides a fundamental approach to standing escapes from the 50/50 position.
