About this video
Escaping the 50/50 position while standing involves a full-body turn and a strong stance:
- Begin by assessing the position of your leg within the 50/50 entanglement.
- Initiate the escape by turning your entire body away from the direction your knee is pointing, rather than just twisting the knee.
- Focus on rising into a solid and strong stance to establish a base.
- Once in a strong stance, push your opponent's legs out in front of you to create space and disentangle.
- With the legs pushed away and space created, you can now start to free your leg and work towards completing the escape.
This sequence provides a fundamental approach to standing escapes from the 50/50 position.
