About this video

Here's a breakdown of the hip heisting defense:

  1. Ensure your head is not dipped forward. Maintain a good base.
  2. Keep your butt wide, not narrow. Come up into a higher position.
  3. Face your opponent and place your knee in a defensive position.
  4. Be mindful not to invert your body. Maintain a sprawling position.
  5. Drive your knee across your opponent's body.
  6. Fight off your opponent's elbow and lock it up.
  7. Lead with your knee driving across your opponent's body. This is a crucial detail.
  8. By driving your knee across, you shorten your opponent's leg, making it harder for them to create distance.
