About this video
Entering backside 50/50 involves a series of movements to gain control and prepare for finishing mechanics. Begin by turning the hips and looking at the buttocks, weaving the back leg through. Focus on breaking the opponent's knee down to the mat, then pass their foot across to the top side, setting up an attack position.
- Start with the opponent's leg and turn your hips while looking at your butt to position yourself correctly.
- Weave your back leg through and work on breaking your opponent's knee down to the floor.
- Pass the opponent's foot across to the top side to secure the position.
- Lock your hands and pull down to turn the opponent away, then throw your foot over.
- If the opponent starts to escape, switch hands to maintain control.
- Keep a shallow connection and use your foot to hook the opponent's top hip.
- Pass the opponent's foot across to the top side again, preparing for the blood choke finish.
- Ensure your elbow is inside your knee to maintain a strong posture and control.
- Two finishes will be explored following the setup of this position.
