Born on January 24, 1986, in Australia, Kit Dale developed into a multi-sport athlete from an early age, competing across karate, inline hockey, and Australian rules football before discovering Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Aussie rules football placed a premium on physicality, and Dale found himself consistently matched against larger, more imposing opponents. Rather than accepting that disadvantage, he sought out grappling as a practical means of leveling the playing field.

That search brought Dale to BJJ in 2008, training under Robert Parmakovski. The sport connected with him immediately, and he began shifting his time and focus toward grappling while stepping back from Aussie rules football. Kit Dale became as well known within the Brazilian jiu-jitsu community for his training methodology as for his results on the competition mat. He broke openly from traditional BJJ conventions — most notably by rejecting positional drilling as a primary development tool. On his personal website, Dale argued that sport is 90% mental and 10% physical, asserting that athletes develop more effectively through live, problem-solving training than through the repetition of isolated techniques in controlled drilling environments.

Colored Belt Highlights

Across his colored belt career, Dale dominated the UAEJJF Abu Dhabi Pro circuit, claiming gold at blue belt in 2010, purple belt in 2011, and brown belt across 2012 and 2013. In 2011, he also captured gold at the CBJJ Brazilian Nationals at purple belt — a result that confirmed his ability to compete at the highest level outside the Australian circuit. Black Belt Results

In 2017, he won the 2017 ADCC Japan Trials, earning qualification for ADCC — the sport's most prestigious no-gi event — and validating the caliber of his grappling at the elite level. That same year, he swept the IBJJF Sydney Open with gold in both the weight and absolute divisions, then followed with an absolute title at the IBJJF Sydney NoGi Open and a weight division victory at the UAEJJF Melbourne Pro.
