Immersed in the martial arts culture that Helio Moura represented, Araújo developed an early foundation in grappling that few athletes acquire through conventional means. Araújo's formal grappling education took shape under Daniel Valverde, who became his primary BJJ coach and the figure most responsible for his development as a black belt competitor.
