As Brunovskis began making regular trips from Cleveland to Sacramento to visit family, he seized the opportunity to broaden his development by training with Cassio Werneck at Werneck's academy. Splitting time between Branch in Cleveland and Werneck in Sacramento exposed him to multiple coaching perspectives at a critical stage of his growth, sharpening his understanding of the game from complementary angles.

While competing on the Ohio circuit, Brunovskis attracted the attention of Lloyd Irvin, who recognized his exceptional potential and offered him a fully funded, full-time training arrangement.
