Born on January 27, 1989, in Kobe, Japan, Masahiro Iwasaki built his earliest martial arts identity through karate before a single fight redirected his path entirely. Watching the 2002 MMA bout between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Bob Sapp, he witnessed grappling executed at the highest level — a display of technical dominance that proved transformative. That moment steered him decisively toward Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and at the age of 15, he began training under Yasuhiro Miyamoto, laying the technical and competitive foundation that would carry him to the top of Japanese grappling.

Yasuhiro Miyamoto served as Iwasaki's formative instructor, instilling the fundamentals and competitive mindset that would define his career. In December 2010, Marco Barbosa awarded Iwasaki his black belt — a milestone that recognized both his technical mastery and his unwavering dedication to the sport.
