About this video
Transitioning from Reverse De La Riva to a stacking position involves maintaining weight back to prevent the opponent from getting underneath. Control the opponent's leg to block their inversion and knee from coming close to the shoulders.
- Make a grip at or below the knee line to prevent the opponent's inversion and keep their far leg away.
- In No-Gi, block the thigh as it's difficult to hold the ankle or foot.
- In Gi, slide the block down to the crease of the hip and grab the skirt of the Gi or fingers in the pants, closing the elbow to prevent the knee from coming forward.
- Shift weight back and away, pressing the inside of the knee down to disengage the opponent's toes and create a gap.
- Circle the foot behind and pull back to elevate the opponent's leg onto the shoulder for a stack pass.
- Find the other leg to transition into leg drag and back step options.
Monitor the opponent's leg to keep distance, and when ready, disconnect their foot by pressing the knee down and pummeling the foot to the inside. Elevate the leg for the pass even if the opponent maintains control of the foot.
