Executing a pressurized closed guard pin and pass involves creating an uncomfortable and draining position for the opponent, leading to a guard pass. The technique is high risk but can be highly advantageous when applied correctly.

  1. Begin by walking the opponent forward, making an underhook and securing the gi, then reaching over with the other hand. You can hold with both sides or go palm to palm.
  2. Walk forward, placing the opponent's hips between your knees, and clamp down on them, using your thighs and knees to control their hip movement.
  3. When ready to progress, pass one arm across the opponent's head. This is risky as it can give them access to your back, but you will counter this by folding them in half to restrict their movement.
  4. Transfer the opponent's hip from one knee to the other, which will start to open their guard. Maintain a stack position, blocking their head to prevent escape.
  5. If the opponent opens their legs, step over to land in a strong half guard position, ready to continue passing.
  6. When ready to complete the pass, reach back through and secure the hand. Use your hip and belly to scrape their leg out of the way.
  7. Be aware of the risks throughout the technique, including potential sweeps and submissions from the opponent. However, they will be in a very compromised position, making it difficult for them to execute their attacks.
  8. Use the technique to drain the opponent's energy, and when appropriate, stand up to accelerate guard opening and passing.
  9. Keep the opponent in a crunched stack position, adjusting your knees as necessary. You can pry the guard open if needed.
  10. If the opponent attempts to attack with a triangle or armlock, their stacked position makes it nearly impossible for them to succeed.
  11. Should the opponent try to bring a leg low to sweep, let it go and transition to passing the half guard.

This technique has a steep learning curve but offers significant rewards once mastered, allowing you to maintain pressure and control over your opponent in a highly disadvantageous position for them.
