About this video

Defending against the double under pass:

  1. Start in the double under position, controlling both of your opponent's sleeves to prevent them from reaching across and making a grip in your collar.
  2. If your opponent tries to punch across, stiff arm it away. Do the same if they attempt with the other hand.
  3. Try to break your opponent's grip by bringing your heels to the mat and driving your hips forward.
  4. If your opponent tries to lift you up and reset, make some space and put your front arm on their lap. If they persist in fighting for the double under position, keep your hips low and your heels on the mat.
  5. Switch your grip to your opponent's collar. Be quick with your choke, as your opponent can start reaching over and making a grip on your collar in the moment you let go.
  6. Set up your choke by reaching up and making your grip. Sit up, snap your opponent's head down into the space by your hip, and raise your leg up and above their shoulder.
  7. Finish the choke by clamping down with your leg above your opponent's shoulder.
