Rafael Paganini

Born on April 6, 1995, in São Paulo, Brazil, Rafael Paganini grew up actively engaging in various sports. At age 14, he turned to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu as a personal challenge and a means to build self-confidence. Paganini began his martial arts journey at Cia Paulista, training under respected coaches Eduardo Leitão and Max Trombini, who laid the foundation for his technical development.

Seeking a more competitive environment, Paganini transitioned to the prestigious Alliance Academy, where he refined his skills under legendary instructors Michael Langhi and Fábio Gurgel. Under their mentorship, Paganini excelled in the colored belt divisions, consistently securing medals at major IBJJF tournaments. His dedication culminated in June 2019, when Langhi and Gurgel awarded him his black belt, recognizing his technical proficiency and competitive achievements.

Known for his aggressive and submission-focused approach, Rafael Paganini stands out for his high finishing rate in competition. He has notably mastered the guillotine choke, employing precise setups and relentless pressure to secure victories. Paganini regularly competes at elite international events organized by IBJJF, AJP, and various superfight promotions, consistently demonstrating his tactical mindset and submission-oriented strategy.

After establishing himself as a prominent competitor representing both Dream Art and Alliance, Paganini transitioned into coaching, founding Paganini BJJ & Wellness in São Paulo. As head coach, he balances guiding students and managing academy operations while continuing to compete actively. His academy emphasizes technical excellence alongside holistic wellness, reflecting Paganini's comprehensive approach to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training and lifestyle.

Paganini has also distinguished himself in no-gi competition, capturing the IBJJF Brazilian Nationals No-Gi title twice, first in 2019 and again in 2024. Additionally, he achieved notable success at the 2022 ADCC South American Trials, earning second place in the under-88 kg division. Paganini continues to excel in no-gi formats, showcasing versatility and adaptability that further solidify his reputation as a well-rounded and accomplished athlete.
