Guilherme Augusto

Guilherme Augusto was born on June 10, 1992, in Brazil. At age 11, he began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at Cohab Jiu Jitsu academy under instructor Everdan Olegário, known affectionately as "Mestre Dan." Initially shy and lacking self-confidence, Augusto was encouraged by his father—a martial artist himself—to pursue jiu-jitsu as a means to build self-esteem and discipline.

Throughout his formative years, Guilherme Augusto trained exclusively under Everdan Olegário at Cohab Jiu Jitsu, a respected affiliate of the renowned Alliance academy. Mestre Dan guided Augusto through every belt rank, culminating in his promotion to black belt on July 4, 2015. This achievement followed an outstanding competitive run at brown belt between 2014 and 2015, during which Augusto defeated several elite-level opponents in his division.

Guilherme Augusto transitioned from the medium-heavyweight division to the super-heavyweight category, successfully adapting his tactical approach to handle larger and stronger opponents. His refined guard passing, positional dominance, and strategic adjustments have consistently earned him podium finishes at major tournaments, highlighting his versatility and technical adaptability at the highest competitive levels.

Following a brief hiatus from competition, Guilherme Augusto returned to elite-level jiu-jitsu in early 2023 with renewed determination. He began the year by securing double gold at the 2023 IBJJF Memphis International Open, winning both his weight class and the absolute division. This dominant performance marked Augusto's resurgence as a top-tier competitor.

Guilherme Augusto has also showcased his skills in prominent superfight events. Notably, he faced ultra-heavyweight champion Victor Hugo at Fight To Win 178, testing his technical proficiency and strategic adaptability against one of the sport's most accomplished heavier competitors. This matchup underscored Augusto's ability to effectively compete in high-stakes superfights against elite-level opposition.

Known for his tactical intelligence and adaptability, Guilherme Augusto excels at neutralizing larger opponents through precise guard passing, relentless pressure, and superior positional control. His consistent podium placements at major tournaments reflect his technical mastery, strategic mindset, and ability to adjust his game plan according to each opponent's strengths and weaknesses.

In addition to his competitive achievements, Guilherme Augusto serves as a dedicated coach at the Alliance Cohab branch in São Paulo—the very academy where his jiu-jitsu journey began. Under the continued mentorship of his lifelong instructor, Everdan Olegário, Augusto actively mentors and develops younger athletes, contributing significantly to the growth and success of the next generation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competitors.
