As of mid-2015, his typical workday began at 6am, with school hours running from 7am to 1pm, followed by possible afternoon meetings and occasional weekend competition duties. For his own training, Trans worked out of the IPIC Arena, a purpose-built jiu-jitsu facility completed in 2014, having previously trained at Combat Club. On Saturdays, he made the roughly 90-minute journey to Al Ain for additional sessions. The UAE training environment was richly competitive: Trans estimated approximately 20 to 30 black belts on the mats, with six or seven competitors near his weight class.
