Otavio Nalati

Otávio Nalati is widely recognized as a prominent Brazilian black belt competitor in the ultra-heavyweight division, regularly competing at weights reaching up to 165 kg (364 lbs). Throughout his competitive career, Nalati has consistently earned podium finishes at prestigious international tournaments, securing medals at the IBJJF World Championship, IBJJF European Open, and Brazilian Nationals (Brasileiro). Early in his competitive journey, he captured the CBJJE Absolute World Championship title, quickly establishing himself as a dominant force among heavyweight grapplers.

One of Nalati's most significant victories took place at the 2018 IBJJF Floripa Open, where he faced renowned IBJJF champion Erberth Santos. Demonstrating exceptional wrestling ability and precise takedown execution, Nalati neutralized Santos' aggressive game plan. His strategic grappling and physical dominance throughout the match secured him an impressive victory, underscoring his capability to overcome elite-level opponents.

At the prestigious BJJ Stars 10 Open-Weight GP 2023, Nalati faced rising prodigy Mica Galvão in the opening round. Entering the match at an imposing 165 kg—nearly double Galvão's 85 kg—Nalati showcased remarkable defensive skills. Although he ultimately lost on points, Nalati impressed spectators and analysts by successfully escaping multiple submission attempts through a combination of sheer physical strength and technical defensive positioning.

Despite his substantial size, Otávio Nalati is known for surprising agility and mobility on the mats.
