About this video

When facing a strong opponent in the Omoplata who manages to sit up, a different approach is required. Begin by securing their belt with your hand, scoot your hip closer to theirs, and then shoot your legs forward to bring their head towards the mat.

  1. Start with the opponent in the Omoplata position.
  2. If the opponent sits up, grab their belt or gi with your hand.
  3. Scoot your hip closer to the opponent's to align your bodies.
  4. Shoot your legs forward, crossing them to force the opponent's head down to the mat.
  5. With the hand that was holding the belt, reach around and secure the opponent's bicep.
  6. Fold your legs back into an X-Guard-like position.
  7. Attempt to place your own head on the mat while maintaining control and proceed with your attack.
