About this video
Executing the Leg Trap Sweep when the opponent stands and defends against the initial move:
- Attempt the original move, but if the opponent puts their legs together in defense, adjust the strategy.
- Release the foot that is on the opponent's bicep and transition to a closed guard around their legs.
- Cross the opponent's arms together to compromise their base, which is crucial for the sweep.
- Shift your hips to one side to off-balance and sweep the opponent, causing them to fall.
This technique is effective when the opponent prevents entry into X-Guard by closing their legs. By wrapping your legs around their knees, you prevent their escape and set up the sweep by crossing their arms and off-balancing them to one side.
