About this video
Executing a sweep from spider guard begins with the opponent on their knees and the practitioner in open guard. The initial setup involves securing grips on the opponent's sleeves. The practitioner then pulls themselves in, placing one foot on the opponent's hip and the other foot on the bicep, establishing the spider guard position.
- With grips on the opponent's sleeves, pull in to close the distance.
- Position one foot on the opponent's hip and the other foot on their bicep to establish spider guard.
- Use the free leg to circle around and scissor the opponent's knee.
- Simultaneously lift the leg that is on the bicep to off-balance and sweep the opponent over.
- Complete the sweep by transitioning into the mount position.
