About this video

Executing a guillotine choke from the squatting position involves a combination of lifting the opponent with the bottom hand and applying downward pressure with the chin to secure the choke during a sweep. The choke should be locked in as the opponent is swept over, maintaining constant pressure on the neck.

  1. Engage the squatting guillotine position, cupping the base and aligning the shoulders, with your chin in the opponent's back.
  2. Whether the opponent grabs your hand or you remove it, disengage and use your bottom hand to lift them while your chin pushes down.
  3. Simultaneously sweep the opponent over while applying the guillotine, ensuring the move is still targeting the neck as they are turned.
  4. Keep a deep underhook and maintain contact with your chin to the opponent's shoulder throughout the technique.
  5. After turning the opponent over, place your thumb into your chest to maintain a tight connection and prevent separation.
  6. Slide your hips back and drop low, adjusting your chin towards the opponent's neck.
  7. Flare your elbow towards your hips and drive your chest into the opponent, using a range of motion between 90 and 45 degrees for the submission.
  8. Avoid extending past the 45-degree mark to prevent the opponent from countering the guillotine.
  9. After sweeping the opponent, drop your hips, widen your knees, and ensure your thumb connects to your clavicles for a tight grip.
  10. Pull the opponent towards you before moving into them to enable a submission with a short range of motion.
  11. With your hands at your clavicle, pull the opponent in continuously, using your toes to apply pressure to their head and neck.
  12. Ensure your shoulder is underneath the opponent's to control their body while focusing on compressing their neck.
  13. After sweeping, place your thumb at the V of your clavicles, slide your hand, and fit your body against the side of the opponent's neck, using your whole body for the guillotine.
  14. Pull the elbow back to engage the choke, chest fold, and secure a tight submission, clasping the opponent's body and pulling them into you.
