Executing the JDL Lock from the Cross Body Position:
- Start in front of your opponent's open guard as they attempt to secure a guillotine on you.
- Place your hand towards their hips and make shoulder-to-shoulder contact.
- Lift your hips and pass their guard to the side, driving them down with your shoulder to establish a strong position.
- Ensure your shoulder is heavy on their neck to set up the JDL Lock effectively.
- Reach your arm over, leading with your elbow, to increase pressure on your opponent's shoulder and neck.
- Focus on reaching far with your elbow rather than just connecting your hands to maximize the tightness of the submission.
- Observe the movement of your opponent's elbow to ensure the lock is applied tightly.
- Pull your hands underneath your opponent to fully secure the submission.
- Once in the cross body position, distribute your weight onto their neck, keep your chin against their body, and reach with your elbow for a strong grip.
- With the correct grip and weight distribution, the submission should be easily secured.
Remember to recognize when a technique is no longer effective and to release it to avoid being counter-submitted.
