About this video

Executing a calf slicer from the reverse De La Riva when the opponent has a wide base:

  1. Lift the hips and use the reverse De La Riva hook on the far leg to spin inward, transitioning into the reverse X-Guard position.
  2. Instead of opting for a leg drag or back take, control the opponent's hips and prepare to elevate them.
  3. Elevate the opponent by lifting and kicking the bottom hook through to lock a triangle, setting up the calf slicer.
  4. Bring the opponent's heel as close to their buttocks as possible by sitting up and grabbing around their hips.
  5. If possible, lock hands together and apply hip pressure to finish the calf slicer.
  6. Maintain control and follow the opponent's movements. Even if they attempt to roll or move, keep the hands locked to secure the finish.
