About this video

Defending against a knee cut pass using Reverse De La Riva:

  1. Wrap the Reverse De La Riva hook around the opponent's hip to prevent their knee from touching the mat.
  2. Reinforce the hook by wrapping your knee or arm around your leg.
  3. Frame against the opponent's shoulder and circle your other hand inside their elbow to gain inside control.
  4. Reinforce the Reverse De La Riva hook with your top leg and extend away to create space.
  5. Lead with your knee and place your foot on the opponent's stomach or circle your hand inside to prepare for an attack.
  6. Switch to an ankle grip and turn your elbow inside as much as possible.
  7. Lift your hip with your top foot and reach for the far hamstring.
  8. Pull yourself through to attack the opponent's back.
  9. Circle your leg inside and grip the opponent's hips.
  10. Pull the hips in while extending your hooks and sit the opponent down to take back control.
  11. Secure the seatbelt grip and proceed to attack from the back.
