About this video
To escape an inside heel hook, it's crucial to straighten the foot as much as possible, emulating a ballerina to create a nearly straight line from the leg through the foot. This positioning facilitates the clearing of the foot and allows for a stabbing motion forward to create space. Additionally, straightening the foot in this manner helps alleviate tension on the leg, reducing potential damage if the heel hook is applied. It's preferable to sustain an injury with the foot in this extended position rather than in a bent or compromised state. The technique also includes a hand fighting sequence to further create space and bring the hip forward, enhancing the escape.
