Victor Nithael

Victor Nithael was born on December 17, 1997, in Aracaju, the capital of Sergipe state on Brazil's northeast coast. Before jiu-jitsu became the defining pursuit of his life, Nithael was a dedicated football (soccer) player, competing at a club level within his region — a passion that shaped much of his early childhood and adolescence.

The turning point came through his older brother, who had begun training jiu-jitsu at a local club and started bringing Victor along to watch classes. What began as casual observation grew into genuine fascination, and recognizing his younger brother's deepening interest, Victor's brother made a decisive move — he paid for 13-year-old Victor's tuition so he could begin training himself. In August 2011, Nithael stepped onto the mats for the first time as a student under Professor Emilio, closing his football chapter and opening a jiu-jitsu journey that would eventually carry him to the sport's highest levels.

Victor Nithael's development through the belt ranks reflected the influence of several key figures, each playing a distinct role in shaping his trajectory. Professor Emilio served as his first instructor, guiding Nithael from his debut on the mats through his blue belt promotion. When Victor relocated, his instruction passed to coach Ivan Lima — a transition that took place when Nithael was just 15 years old.

Under Lima's guidance, Nithael matured technically and competitively through his mid-teenage years, forging the competitive identity that would define his colored belt career. Lima ultimately recognized that his pupil's ambitions demanded a larger stage, and at age 17, he encouraged Victor to seek a more professional training environment. That recommendation led Nithael to Rodrigo Feijão's renowned academy in Maringá — a gym internationally recognized for its continuous production of elite talent.

Arriving as a blue belt, Nithael's development accelerated dramatically under Feijão's experienced instruction. The specialized media took notice, and his name began circulating as one of the sport's most promising prospects. That reputation was formally confirmed when he captured the purple belt world title in 2017. After years of growth through every colored belt stage, Rodrigo "Feijão" Silva awarded Victor Nithael his black belt in November 2020, completing a journey that had begun nearly a decade earlier on the courts of Aracaju.

Nithael's colored belt career established him as one of the most formidable competitors of his generation across multiple international circuits. His blue belt campaign yielded a gold medal at the CBJJ Brazilian Nationals in 2016 — an early indicator of his capacity to perform at the national level. A third-place finish at the same event in 2017 demonstrated consistent podium presence as he ascended to purple belt.

The defining moment of his colored belt career arrived at the 2017 IBJJF World Championship, where Nithael claimed the purple belt title — a result that elevated his profile significantly within the global grappling community and validated the growing hype around his name. He followed that landmark achievement with an international statement in 2018, winning the UAEJJF Grand Slam London at purple belt and showcasing his ability to compete and win on a global stage. That same year, he also reached the podium at the IBJJF European Open while transitioning into his brown belt campaign.

At brown belt, Nithael maintained his high standards across multiple major events. He secured gold at the CBJJ Brazilian Team Nationals in 2019 and claimed the CBJJE Brazilian Nationals title in 2020, while also returning to the podium at the IBJJF European Open in 2020. A silver medal at the CBJJ Brazilian Nationals in 2018 rounded out a colored belt résumé marked by remarkable consistency across multiple organizations and competition formats.

Victor Nithael's transition to the black belt division in November 2020 was followed by an assertive debut campaign that confirmed his standing among the sport's elite. Competing in the Peso Leve division at 76 kg / 168 lbs and representing Brazil under the Nova União / Clube Feijão banner, Nithael wasted little time making his mark.

In 2021, he claimed gold at the IBJJF South American Championship — a strong opening statement at the sport's highest competitive level. That same year, he added the IBJJF Rio Open title to his résumé, demonstrating the podium reliability that had defined his colored belt years.
