Claudio "Caloquinha" Mattos was born on July 16, 1981, in Brazil, and went on to become one of the standout black belts produced by the Gracie Barra lineage. His introduction to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu came at 16, driven by the influence of his older brother — an active competitor with a deep passion for the fighting arts. That early nudge toward the mats set the course for Claudio's entire life.
