Pedro Paulo Agrizzi

Pedro Paulo Campi Agrizzi was born on May 21, 1993, in Guarapari, Espírito Santo, Brazil, into a household where sport shaped daily life. His father — a former judoka and gym owner — kept martial arts within arm's reach, and by age six Pedro had already stepped onto the mat for his first formal training: judo, following his father's path.

Though his judo tenure was brief, it planted an early seed for grappling that would later take root. As Pedro moved into his pre-teen years, his attention gravitated toward mixed martial arts — and specifically toward the Pride FC promotion, which captivated an entire generation of Brazilian combat sports fans. The iconic Rodrigo Minotauro versus Mark Coleman bout proved a decisive turning point, reigniting his passion for grappling and steering him directly toward jiu-jitsu.

In 2006, Agrizzi returned to the mats with clear purpose, enrolling in a local jiu-jitsu class led by coach João "Neguinho." Coach João guided Pedro through the first six months of his development before departing to pursue a different path. Rather than stepping back, Agrizzi sought out the next chapter of his training.

He found it under Thiago Oliveira Dutra, widely regarded as one of the leading jiu-jitsu figures in Guarapari. Dutra welcomed Pedro into Striker Academy and remained his instructor across the full arc of his belt progression — from white belt through to the sport's highest rank. In 2016, following a string of strong performances at the IBJJF Pan American and World Championships, Dutra promoted Agrizzi to black belt, recognizing over a decade of technical and competitive growth. Through that journey, Agrizzi established himself as one of the most accomplished grapplers to emerge from Espírito Santo, bringing visibility to a regional scene not always at the center of the BJJ spotlight.

Agrizzi built his reputation through consistent appearances on the IBJJF circuit, competing primarily in the medium-heavy and super-heavy divisions — a range spanning 88.30 kg to 100.50 kg — and demonstrating the versatility to perform at a high level across both weight classes.

Colored Belt Highlights

His colored belt career produced noteworthy results at the CBJJ Brazilian Nationals, where he reached the podium across both the blue and brown belt divisions. At brown belt in 2016, he claimed third place at both the IBJJF World Championship and the IBJJF Pan Championship — performances that contributed directly to his black belt promotion that same year.

Black Belt Competition Record

At the black belt level, Agrizzi continued accumulating podium finishes across domestic and international events. In 2021, he earned gold at the IBJJF South American Championship and reached the final of the South American Championship No-Gi, taking silver. In 2020, he secured third at the IBJJF South American Championship and finished runner-up at the IBJJF Rio BJJ Pro. Additional verified podium appearances at the Rio International Open and the Belo Horizonte International Open further reinforce his standing as one of the more active and consistent competitors on the circuit during this period.
