Brian Beaury was born on July 31, 1990, in Albany, New York, and raised in the nearby city of Cohoes, NY. Before stepping onto the mats, he built a strong athletic foundation competing in both football and baseball throughout high school. His ambitions carried into college, where he participated in Division 1 baseball for one semester before making a deliberate choice to channel his competitive drive exclusively into Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

That pivot proved defining. Beaury began his BJJ journey in 2008, and the discipline, structure, and competitive outlet the sport provided resonated deeply with an athlete who had spent years sharpening his instincts across multiple fields. The transition was less a departure from athletics than a redirection of them.

Beaury's development through the ranks was shaped by focused training and access to high-level instruction. After approximately five years on the mats, Mike Wacker promoted him to black belt in 2013—a milestone that marked both his technical maturity and his readiness to lead others.

Beyond his direct lineage, Beaury trained extensively with Murilo Santana, a decorated black belt and prominent instructor at Unity Jiu-Jitsu in Manhattan. Training at Unity immersed Beaury in a rigorous, competition-oriented environment that elevated his game at the highest regional and national levels. Brian Beaury established himself as one of the more consistent podium presences on the IBJJF circuit, competing in the Peso Médio division (82.30 kg / 181.5 lbs)—one of the most competitive weight categories in the federation. His circuit career spans at least six years of documented results, beginning with a bronze medal at the IBJJF Atlanta Winter Open in 2014.

In 2015, Beaury claimed gold at the IBJJF American National No-Gi Championship, his highest-profile individual title and a result that affirmed his standing among the top competitors in his division nationally.
