About this video
Passing the lasso from the Reverse De La Riva involves:
- Reaching back to grab the opponent's toes, bending the foot, and placing it in front of your stomach.
- Making a pants grip at the bend of the knee, lifting your hips, and stepping around to leg drag.
- If the opponent holds onto the lasso grip, maintain the position, as they will likely need to let go to replace their guard.
- To advance, release the pants grip, grab the opponent's shin, and push down while opening your elbow onto their leg to step around.
- Let go of the shin and hook the opponent's arm, which allows for attacks such as Kimura, Armbar, or taking the back.
- Pushing the shin down makes it harder for the opponent to lift their hips and replace their guard.
- When stepping over the opponent's head, pinch your knees to control their upper body.
- If the opponent maintains their grip, you're still in a strong position, nearly past their guard.
- For an Armbar, use your heel to break their grip if they persist in holding on.
