About this video
Passing against a De La Riva guard with a pants grip involves maintaining good posture and addressing the De La Riva hook and the foot on the hip. The following steps outline the technique:
- Grab the shin of the De La Riva hook with one hand and place the other hand on the shin near the hip.
- Lift the hips and push the De La Riva hook out while stepping back to establish a strong base.
- Cut the knee out to the side, which typically breaks the opponent's pants grip.
- Stand up, step to the side, and transition into a leg drag position.
- For the leg drag, use a C-grip to grab the shin and push the opponent's heel towards their buttocks.
- Push the De La Riva hook out while lifting the hips and stepping back for base.
- Cut the knees out and drop both knees, performing a windshield wiper motion to free from the pants grip.
- Pop up to both feet, step towards the opposite side, and complete the leg drag.
- Cup the knee and control the hips, then let go and grab the far collar.
- Drop the shoulder to the opponent's chest, grab the belt, and secure a tight leg drag position.
