About this video
Executing a leg weave pass variation against a persistent pants grip:
- Begin by pushing down on the opponent's shin, lifting your hips, stepping back and over with a deep squat, while holding the opponent's collar and belt.
- If the opponent maintains a strong pants grip, making it difficult to step with the foot for the leg weave, adjust your strategy.
- Keep your chest down and start opening your knees outward. Specifically, angle the knee that's on the same side as the pants grip outwards while dropping your hips into the opponent.
- Slide your shin down the opponent's shin to apply pressure and discomfort on their gripping hand, which assists in breaking the grip.
- As you feel the grip weakening, drop your shoulder for additional pressure and continue sliding your shin until the grip breaks.
- Once the grip is broken, come to your toes, lift your hips, and step to complete the leg weave pass as usual.
This technique focuses on using your body weight and positioning to break a stubborn pants grip, allowing you to proceed with the leg weave pass.
