About this video

Executing a leg weave pass from the De La Riva guard involves several key steps:

  1. Control the opponent's shin with a pants grip, either on the shin or a vertical grip on the pants, to push their leg down effectively.
  2. Push the opponent's hook down while lifting your hips, then step back to create a solid base.
  3. Step over the opponent's leg into a deep squat position without going all the way to a knee slide.
  4. Lower your chest onto the opponent's knee to prevent them from opening their hip.
  5. Secure grips on the opponent's collar and belt, pulling your chest into their knee to make it difficult for them to open it.
  6. Begin stepping in the direction of the opponent's knees to bring them together.
  7. Once you have control over the opponent's knees, drop your shoulder onto their chest and slide your knee through, stepping over far to the side.
  8. For very flexible opponents, you may need to step even further to ensure the position is tight.
  9. Circle your leg back, hooking the opponent's ankle, pinch your knees together, lift your hips, and step around to transition into the leg drag position.

This technique effectively neutralizes the De La Riva guard and transitions you into a dominant leg drag position.
