The long step pass is not recommended for no-gi due to the lack of grips. The long step pass relies heavily on grips and pants to stabilize, which are not available in no-gi. The only situation where the long step pass might be viable in no-gi is when you have control of the head and hips. However, this is not a common situation and the lack of a collar to pull makes it less effective. Therefore, the long step pass is not a good option for no-gi, in general.
