About this video
Performing a leg drag in MMA differs slightly from traditional Jiu Jitsu due to the forward positioning of the hips. Here's how to execute it:
- When your opponent controls your heel, adjust your grip to be more behind, rather than the traditional Jiu Jitsu grip.
- Work your hips forward and use a cup grip.
- Push your hips forward to lift the leg, then apply the cup grip.
- Pull and drop to stabilize.
- Remember, in MMA, your hips are forward to use the leverage of your hips to punch. This is different from Jiu Jitsu where your hips are usually sideways.
- If your opponent starts to scramble on the ground, you can use a punch to stop them. The way you use your hips is totally different in this scenario.
- Push your hips up, then change your position. Trying to execute from the same position won't work.
- Move sideways, then when you cup grip, change your position again.
- Finally, move your hand to the hip.
