About this video

Dealing with a leg lasso from a guard pass perspective involves the following steps:

  1. When the opponent has a lasso and is playing spider on the other side, the first step is to escape from the spider. This is done by using your knee against their shin to drop their leg down, allowing you to circle your hands.
  2. Close your elbow to avoid attacks. Move to the side where your knee goes behind their knee, push their leg down to be able to circle your hand.
  3. Once you've circled your hand, maintain control of the leg. This leg will control their leg. Keep the grip to prevent them from stepping on your biceps.
  4. Use your knee to push your hands outside. This is easier than trying to do it with your hands alone. If you use your knee, your wrist is free.
  5. From this position, you can do long steps or leg drag to the other side.
  6. When dealing with a spider, make sure to close your elbow and release their pressure a little bit. Then move to the side, drop your knee, push their leg down, and circle your hands.
  7. When you control their leg, replace your leg. Control their leg to prevent them from playing spider again. Push down and avoid them playing spider again. Now your wrist is free.
  8. Move your wrist and position your knee. Now you can drag or long step to the side. There are a bunch of options from this position.
  9. Remember to use the power of your leg, not your arm. Your wrist and your knee push, at the same time you circle.
  10. When dealing with a lasso, the first reaction you need to try to do is to circle your hands, but sometimes it doesn't work. In such cases, close your elbow and make some grip if you want.
  11. It's better to walk to the other side, let the lasso there, kill the spider first, then escape from the lasso. Don't try to escape both at the same time, you're going to get confused.
