Gustavo Gusto Campos

Did you know?

• ▸ Campos has 21 wins and 12 losses across 33 recorded matches, all of them in the gi. That is a competitor who lived on the traditional circuit and rarely stepped onto the nogi mats.
• ▸ His submission win rate sits at 24 percent, below the site average of 40 percent. Of his 21 wins, 9 came by points and 5 by advantage, so a lot of his best work happened in tight positional exchanges rather than finishes.
• ▸ Against both Romulo Barral and Andre Galvao he went 1 win and 2 losses across 3 meetings each. He got a win over Galvao by decision at the 2005 CBJJO World Cup and one over Barral on points at the 2013 IBJJF Pan Championship.
• ▸ Of his 12 recorded losses, 8 came by submission. When Campos lost, he was more often getting caught than getting outscored, which is worth noting for a guy who so rarely finished opponents himself.
• ▸ His busiest recorded year was 2014 with 7 matches, and the 2013 IBJJF Pan Championship is his most frequent event at 4 appearances. That stretch from 2013 to 2014 was clearly the heart of his competitive schedule on record.
